Name: Chris Soulsby
Role: Writer of words
What did you want to be when you grew up?
A racing driver! As a proud owner of a provisional driving license, I’m primed to take the motorsport world by storm…
What’s your earliest motorsports memory?
Kimi eating an ice cream at the 2009 Malaysia Grand Prix. I just remember looking at him and thinking ‘legend’.
When did you realise you loved motorsport?
Watching Jenson Button win the 2009 Malaysian Grand Prix.
What do you love about motorsport?
The speed. People racing wheel to wheel at 200mph – what’s not to love about that? Remember Fernando Alonso rolling in Melbourne and getting straight back in the car? Pure adrenaline and balls…
Who is your racing hero and why?
Ronnie Peterson. The best F1 driver not to win the title. Driving style constantly sideways. Iconic.
Which current racer would you be and why?
Sebastien Buemi, because I’d get to race Formula E and WEC whilst also getting runouts in F1 cars.
What’s the one car you would love to drive?
The Lotus ’72 because it’s just bonkers.
What’s the one circuit you would drive in that car?
Spa, because it’s Spa.
What’s the best thing about your job?
Fans saying they don’t like my articles and pointing out mistakes. It keeps me in check.
What’s the worst thing about your job?
That I’m somehow late all the time despite living just around the corner…
